The San Diego Turbos 14U team participated in the USTSA-USA Martin Luther King Classic in Poway. This Turbos had 5 tough games against some great trams. Intheir first game, the Turbos had played the team that bounced them from the USTBA Turkey Trot Tournament last November. This time, the Turbos played a much better game defensively. The final score was 6 to 4 Gorillas. In the second game of the day, the Turbos defeated the Toreros 8-5 in a back and forth game. On Sunday, the Turbos lost a close game against the Las Flores Tigers 5 to 4. The fourth and final game of the day, the Turbos were matched up against the Vista Condors in a must win game. After 6 tight innings, the Turbos won 5-3. With the win, the Turbos ended up with the #3 seed and would play the #2 seeded San Diego Cowboys in the semi-finals. The Cowboys ended the teams run with a 10 to 2 win on Monday.
The 13U Spring team played in Baseball ASAP's MLK Classic. This was their first tournament as a team. With only 5 players from the Winter team on the roster, the team welcomed 7 new players. In their first game against the Black Mountain Ballers, the Turbos won 10-0. The second game against the So Cal Aztecs ended early with the Turbos on top 14-4. The third and final game before the playoffs, the Turbos defeated the Rancho Bernardo Warriors 8-0 earning the #1 seed. David Lopez pitched a 1 hitter, striking out 12 Warriors in the process. Unfortunately, the rain came and the tournament was postponed until March 14th at 12:30pm. The game will be played at the Eastlake Little League Juniors Fields. See you there.
